A is for Absolutely Adorable

Why can the Aa sound be so tricky?  I still remember Miss A from Letter People Land and her terrible sneezing that stuck that aaaaaaah sound in my head.  So I tried my own version of Miss A's sneezing.    We cut heads TLC-style (cutting the corners off a rectangle or square) and traced and cut out our own hands.  Next we glued a tissue to the face and drew our closed eyes.  Add the hands, a little yarn hair and some Aa pictures finish it off.  I realize it kind of looks like they are sneezing out words that begin with the letter a, but I'm okay with that! :)

Added bonus:  a great opportunity to review healthy habits just in time for cold and flu season!

Backwards Day and Hat Day

Well, so much for keeping up with a blog.  :)  We have been busy, busy, busy which means I am exhausted, exhausted, exhausted!

Two weeks ago (really, where did November go?) we studied the letter Bb and had a backwards day.  It was so much fun!  We all wore our clothes backwards, did our schedule backwards, and even walked backwards down the hallway to lunch and our specials.  The Kindergarteners LOVED it!  No pictures, I was missing a very important Bb word:  batteries!

Last week the Alphafriend Hattie Horse came to visit and we had a hat day.  Super simple, but a great day.  We all wore our hats and wrote about them.  We also practiced reading our rainbow words (high frequency words) and color words with an emergent reader I threw together using free clipart and online coloring pages.
